My practice is based in Plano, Texas, where I live with my husband. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with two Bachelor’s degrees from Texas Tech University, one in Psychology, the other in English Literature. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Houston, and I am licensed by the state of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
I have served as a counselor in both Christian-based and community-based settings. Before going into private practice, I worked as a counselor at the Meier Clinic (formerly the Minirth-Meier Clinic) in Richardson, where I provided individual and family counseling on an outpatient basis. I coordinated with psychiatrists and the Day Treatment Program for a comprehensive team approach.
I have also served as a Counselor, Intake Coordinator, and Team Lead at Dallas Metrocare Services, a state MHMR organization. While at Dallas Metrocare Services, I worked with at-risk children and adolescents in Oak Cliff and the surrounding South Dallas County communities. I provided office, school, and in-home counseling services and coordinated with psychiatrists, teachers, and school administrators to promote optimum treatment for children, teens, and their families.
Before moving to Plano, I worked as an LPC-Intern at the Julianna Poor Memorial Counseling Center in Houston, Texas. I provided individual, family, and group counseling services and received 30 hours of continuing education and weekly supervision in child-centered play therapy. I facilitated groups for women who have been sexually abused in childhood and also facilitated a support group for parents who had children with eating disorders.
I have volunteered my services in the community in various capacities. I have been a member of the Junior League of Collin County for 8 years. I have also served on the Collin County Council on Family Violence and on the Summer Lunch Box Program. I have participated in Leadership Plano and served on the Board of Leadership Plano for 3 years. Past volunteer work includes serving as a counselor at the Collin County Rape Crisis Center and in working with survivors of Hurricane Katrina in both Houston and the Dallas area. I am active in my church and periodically teach women's Bible studies.
